KNSTRKT started as an idea for the dining table: small vessels for snacks that could be stacked into colourful constructions between meals. But once people took the pieces home, many of them ended up in the bathroom.

Building blocks for toothbrushes and hair ties
In my own bathroom, KNSTRKT holds toothbrushes and make-up. A small bowl collects rings and hair ties, a tall piece keeps brushes upright, and a tower of stacked elements takes up very little space next to the washbasin. Cotton buds and sanitary products are tidied away just as nicely and fit perfectly into the shapes. Because the 14 shapes fit together, the arrangement can change whenever the things on the shelf change.

Tautes Heim: colour as a starting point
Anne Deppe photographed KNSTRKT at Tautes Heim, a small house in Bruno Taut’s Horseshoe Estate in Berlin-Britz with its original 1920s colours. The bathroom itself is modern, but beautifully attuned to the house: rather plain yet elegant, until my pieces moved in. CANDY and FOLDWORK joined in, with a striped CANDY MIRROR and a FOLDWORK VALET for towels.

Clear forms, strong colours
The shapes of KNSTRKT go back to children’s building blocks, functional systems and Memphis design, with its colours and sometimes eccentric combinations of geometric forms. In a bathroom, that mix works surprisingly well: the clear, almost Bauhaus-like forms bring order, the colours keep it playful.
KNSTRKT is available as single pieces and in sets of 2 to 14 elements: see all KNSTRKT sets. For the wall next to the mirror, the CANDY glass hooks in small, medium and large work just as well for towels as for coats.
