FAQ

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship to my country?

Yes – we ship pretty much everywhere.

Will I have to pay customs?

For orders outside the EU, customs duties and import taxes are paid by the recipient.

How much is shipping?

You’ll see the exact shipping costs at checkout, before you pay.

How long will my order take?

In-stock objects are usually ready to ship within 1–3 days. Delivery then takes 1–3 days within Germany, 2–5 days within Europe and 4–10 days internationally; the carrier depends on your location. Glass objects that aren’t in stock are made to order and usually take 2–6 weeks, depending on the object.

My favourite piece is sold out. Now what?

Click “Notify When Available” and leave your email – we’ll let you know as soon as it’s back.

Is everything packed safely?

Yes. Our objects travel very well wrapped – almost nothing ever breaks. If something does arrive broken, please send us a photo within 2 days and we’ll sort it out.

Can you gift wrap?

Yep. We have a fancy golden paper for it.

Can I return my order?

Yes – just note that return shipping is paid by the customer. We’re a small studio and can’t afford it otherwise. (We’ve had two returns in 12 years and do everything to keep it that way :) See Cancel Order for how it works.

Which payment methods do you accept?

You’ll find all accepted payment methods at the bottom of every page.

Do you have gift vouchers?

Yes – write to hello (at) studioberg.de and we’ll send you one.

JELLO

Can I make jello in my Jello?

In principle, yes. But it’s not a glass that shrugs off temperature shocks. So: pudding yes – super-hot, boiling liquids no.

Can I bake a cake in it?

Yes – as long as it’s a no-bake cake. Jello doesn’t go in the oven: glass doesn’t like quick temperature changes, and putting it into a hot oven or taking it out is simply too sudden – it might crack.

What am I supposed to do with a Jello anyway?

First, simply enjoy it. Then start dreaming of fairy-tale feasts. Then put a few cookies under it. And once they’re eaten: your treasures.

Is there a plate to go with it?

We recommend the plate, platter or cake stand of your choice – but we’ll have something of our own soon.

Jello would make a great lamp!

We hear you … :)

CANDY

Are the Candy side tables actually stable?

Oh yes. The glass is about 2 cm thick. You could probably stand on it – but please don’t.

How do I hang a Candy mirror?

With our neat system of two strong magnets that carry more than three times the mirror’s weight. They’re fixed to the wall with two screws.

How do I mount the Candy hooks?

One screw, into a wall plug, into a hole in your wall. Done.

How do I clean Candy and Jello?

Simply wipe them with glass cleaner.

Can my cat sit on a Candy table?

Only if it has stripes itself.

KNSTRKT

Is KNSTRKT food safe?

Yes – ready for your popcorn.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

Theoretically yes, practically we’d rather you wash it by hand. KNSTRKT is made of earthenware because it warps less in the kiln – and warping is the final boss of stackable tableware. Unglazed earthenware isn’t waterproof, though: the inside is glazed, the foot isn’t, and the foot simply looks nicer when washed by hand.

What do I do with KNSTRKT?

Build a castle for your make-up, cotton buds, cotton pads and hair ties. Build a city wall around your desk and fill it with paper clips. Or a tower for dips and crackers on your dinner table.

How high can I stack KNSTRKT?

Our record is 1.10 m. Show us a higher one and you get a blue bridge.

FOLDWORK

How do I hang my Foldwork object?

It comes with screws – just get wall plugs that suit your wall. Not complicated at all.

Can I hang Foldwork in the bathroom?

Yes – brass or powder-coated steel, no problem.

Will the brass stain my clothes?

Nope, never happened so far. Maybe just don’t hang anything on it to dry that has been dipped in acid – but that’s probably not what you were planning anyway.

Will the brass darken?

Over time, yes. It’s unlacquered on purpose – lacquer looks so artificial, and we love the patina. But it takes years, and we include a small plastic sponge with your order – so if the patina bothers you, just rub it off. Takes about 10 minutes.

VIIE VASES

Are the VIIE vases watertight?

In general, yes. They’re made from different clays, and because each clay has different additives, they behave slightly differently. They should all be watertight and are even glazed on the inside. Still, if you keep water in them for a long time, mind the surface underneath: stoneware can hold a tiny bit of moisture, so better put a coaster underneath.

Also, please be careful with the crackle glaze – the one with the fine blue veins – when cleaning it. The veins are coloured with ink, the traditional way, and ink isn’t waterproof. So wipe it clean, but never submerge it in water.

Colours, Studio & More

Can I get Jello, Candy, KNSTRKT, VIIE or Foldwork in my favourite colour?

We’re colour-lover supporters! Write to hello (at) studioberg.de and tell us your dream colour – depending on the effort, almost anything is possible.

Can I visit the studio?

If you can tolerate a little chaos, gladly. It’s in wildest Neukölln, Berlin – close to the large Philip Morris Cowboy. Please get in touch beforehand.

Do you work with interior designers and shops?

Yes, we’d love to – we can also do special editions, custom colours and individual offers for larger quantities. See Retailers.

Does every piece look exactly the same?

No – every piece is handmade and unique. Small bubbles and slight colour variations are part of it, not a flaw.

Where are your objects made?

KNSTRKT is handmade in Portugal, close to Nazaré, the town with the giant waves. Our glass is made in Germany and cut and polished in Nový Bor, the heart of Czech glass craft – a landscape straight out of a fairytale, where Candys and Jellos seem to grow in the forest, guarded by an old witch. Foldwork is made in Poland, the brass pieces by an art blacksmith near Berlin. The VIIE vases are still made in our studio in Berlin.

I lost a screw or a magnet. Do you have spare parts?

Just get in touch at hello (at) studioberg.de.

Which object is your favourite?

We love them all like children – but the youngest of course always gets spoiled the most.

Why Studio Berg?

Because Friederike’s mother’s maiden name was Blumberg – flower mountain. The flowers were rationalised away. The mountain stayed.
